We talk so often about goals at the beginning of the year, but as summer stretches on that time – and list – seems long gone.
As I settle back into work, I’m promising myself that once a week, I will sit down and look at my goals, both personal and professional. It may just be 15 minutes. But I have a notebook and a scheduled time. Whether they need to be raised, revised or tabled, I’ll know that I’m not letting my life go by in reactive mode. (Well, not entirely.)
What do you do to make sure you’re heading in a direction you need?

This is a really timely post for me; I feel frustrated with the way some of my goals are going (or not going as the case may be), and I am trying to re-adjust so the second half of the year isn’t disappointing.

It’s a new thing for me, too. I was letting months (read: years) go by without really accomplishing what I’d plan. The more frequent looks help, not just at home but at work, too – I know day to day we have to react to what comes at us, but I feel more in control.

I do the same thing as you – sit down and look at my goals periodically. Sometimes I let way too much time pass between the “looks” though!

I’ve never been good about it – just about the moaning when I don’t hit what I want to reach!

I always use the beginning of the new school year as a New Year’s Resolution Do-Over time. Fresh calendar, fresh #2 pencil, fresh start. The Staples’ commercial is right: it is the most wonderful time of the year!
