Last weekend, we packed up our car and headed up to meet friends at the Wisconsin Dells. The company was wonderful and we came back with exhausted, happy kids.
The simple act of getting away from the house – and out of town – was all I needed to focus on what is important: These two little bean bags who love my attention, and who finally got some time to have me just play.
We swam, climbed, laughed and ran through the hotel in PJs (okay, just them) to get ice cream.
I was content being with them. I was present. Abby and Austin manage too far ahead often enough already. Soon enough, I’ll have to let them.
Where is your favorite family escape?

To that end, we need YOUR help. One click and just five minutes. Just five minutes of your time to answer some questions that can help guide the future of JBE would be a gift that I would be forever grateful for.

As a family, we don’t have a favorite spot yet
My husband’s is Vegas. That’s not going to work as a place to reconnect!
My husband’s favorite place is Vegas as well… And yep, we’re not taking the fam out there any time soon!
My kids love being away and my youngest just loves hotels – any hotels.

First thing she does is kick off her shoes, lie on the bed and peruse the room service menu

Funny, that’s EXACTLY what I plan to do when I show up on your doorstep in Florida!
Two places – Greenbrier and Florida. We go to the Greenbrier 1x/year and Florida twice/year. Our 2nd Florida trip is coming in a month and to say I can’t wait is an understatement. Gonna be a tough month before that. So glad you had a good time. Love the pic.
I’m so glad you have a retreat planned after tax season. I’ll be thinking about you over these next few weeks – Hoping the time goes quickly!
Love that pic {and the Dells are so fun!}.! We did Great Wolf Lodge with O for her birthday last May, and it was awesome. We’re hoping H will be big enough to join in the fun this year too! I love ANY reason to reconnect as a family…sometimes it’s as simple as leaving our phones at home & going for a walk or a trip to the park.
Great post!

Amazing what a difference it can make to put the phones out of reach! I need to do that more often during the day – I know how much my kids light up with the attention.
I’ve been dying to do that. Just need to get over feeling horribly sick all the time first!
